Today computer generated design and factory made parts ensure a good enough result when building stairs. However, if you want a flowing, voluptuous elliptical stair with
sweeping curves, Steve Sheerin recommends building a custom staircase on site with stringers, using the old school method. He custom builds each staircase by eye and hand to
create a unique masterpiece for your home. The photos start with basic framing. Next, red oak treads are installed over risers and skirtboards which will eventually be painted.
Underneath the stairs, wire lathe
will be plastered over. Note how the windows follow the line of the stairs.
